This is Dan’s first album with the instrumentation of sax-piano-bass-drums (as well as Dan’s debut on alto sax in addition to tenor), and he is backed a commanding rhythm section of Michael Eckroth on piano, Christian McBride on bass, and Gregory Hutchinson on drums. The album featrues seven original compositions by Dan, and one arrangement of Kurt Weill’s “Speak Low.”
